Welcome to Solaris VII.....the Game World! It's nearly always raining here. Solaris City is a sprawling metroplex, dominated by the Class Six arenas that the Great Houses have sponsored on this world. As far as the eye can see, there are glittering houses of inequity, ready to cater to every legal vice... and a few illegal ones as well.. It's not like you see much of it though, except on leave.
What you do see most often is the complex of warehouses and former factories that the Gray Wolf Battalion rents to house you and your unit mates. This area is in unincorperated Solaris City, but is north of the International Zone, and west of Kobe district, which lends it some flavor. Most signs are in Japanese, and the merchants here will take Ryu more readily than CBills. The complex is not far away from the training grounds and firing ranges that the stables located in Kobe use to test out 'mechs and weapons.
Two giant run down factories house a company of battlemechs apiece, their crews and technical support, and a modest security contingent drawn by lot from the infantry company. These factories are spacious and drab. Although putting in mech repair equipment has taken up much of the free room, the quarters are ample.
Two smaller warehouses located right next to the factories are given over to the remaining armor, aerospace, infantry, and technical support. The quarters in these buildings are slightly more cramped than the ones in the factories.
There is a landing pad for spheroid dropships located on the sight and cranes to assist with loading cargo and equipment. There is a marker on the outskirts of the blast radius. If traffic is expected, one of the unit's RFL-3N Rifleman battlemechs stands there and acts as a control tower. Squads drawn from the battalion's infantry contingent regularly patrol the fenced in complex, with a private security firm taking their place when the unit is out on contract.
A small building in the middle of the complex acts as the unit's gymnasium/ recreation area. The lower level is reserved for various weight lifting and training equipment. A section is roped off to act as an archery range on Major Sawabe's request. The upper level has a modest library and a selection of games ranging from parchesi and chess to decks of cards and dice to the perrenial favorite of monopoly. A small televison set and a juice bar dominate one side of the room.

*THUNK!*
Major Noriyuki Sawabe took another breath as he notched another arrow. It had taken the Mechwarrior several years to bring his prosthetic fingers to the point where they acted just like his original digits.
The Kuritan enjoyed archery, it enabled him to literally send his stress away with each arrow and brought him closer to the zen like moment that many famous samurai were capable of entering. Noriyuki hoped he would find that moment himself one day. Today, he was content with just relieving stress placed on him by his various woes.
*THUNK* That arrow represented the worries about the administrative assistant he just hired.
*THUNK!* That arrow represented the deepening financial woes of the unit
*THUNK!* That arrow represented his fears about the success of the commando squad that he recently formed.
*TWANG!*
It took Noriyuki a few seconds to realize that he ran out of arrows. The mechwarrior had been so deep into his routine that he failed to notice anything beyond his target. Sawabe let out an inaudible, exasperated cry as he pulled the arrows out from the target. He had been so close to that point...yet cheated by an arrow.
The Major placed his equipment in his locker and took out the brochure he was reading. Sawabe glanced at the cover as he walked up the stairs to the rec room, admiring the ANV-3M Anvil and wishing he could trade away his RFL-3N Rifleman for it.
The Rifleman was an ancient Battlemech design. It had been in production since before the formation of the Star League nearly five hundred years ago. Noriyuki's particular Rifleman was significantly younger, but it didn't act like it!
The machine had so many inexplainable flaws, so many baffling glitches that Sawabe could not help to think that it was a cantankerous old Davion, chafing to be under the control of a Draconis Mechwarrior.
Mech not withstanding, Noriyuki was able to relax in the rec room and poured himself a Naranji juice and let himself day dream a little about the future.

Did someone say administrative assistant? Because there she is!
Jia Li comes stumbling into the lower floor of the Rec Room after tripping over some weights, completely disoriented and befuddled. Confusion masks Jia’s features, while she tries to recall where she is exactly, not remembering the map Noriyuki drew for her earlier that day.
It would appear that she is searching for anyone to help her, being thoroughly lost. At the moment, she is wearing a dull fatigue that is far too big for her form, definitely not meant or fitted to her.
It takes the woman a few moments to collect herself, turning slowly to check out the room curiously. A hand reaches up to brush a few locks out of her vibrant violet eyes, tilting her head back to look up at the upper level. That is where Jia spots the Major in a daydream drinking his juice.
Ah, someone who can help! Jia features light up happily. After trying to find the laundry room without any success and ending up helplessly lost, it would be easy to notice that she has not been here long, if not even for a day. Newbie should be boldly printed on her forehead for how green she is here at the moment.
Jia bounds up the stairs, taking two at a time, calling out in relief to Noriyuki, “Noriyuki, Noriyuki! Can you help me? I got lost.” She admits begrudgingly, “You need better drawing skills. Your map lead me in circles!” Yes, blame the map…not herself. “I went to fetch my clothing, since they should be dry now, but I ended up everywhere but there!” She exclaims, putting a hand on her hip. Her gaze travels the upper floor and she draws up a hand to tap on her lower lip, “But where is here exactly?” She asks.

Noriyuki laughs. "This is the recreation room. Off duty personel are permitted to come here if they do not or cannot enjoy the beauty of Solaris City proper." The mechwarrior shrugged. "It's what we can afford. The Laundry Room is in the building south of here."

Jia sighs quietly when she is laughed at. A hand reaches up to push back the rest of the midnight locks from her face and she holds her hands up on her head, while her hip tilts to one side. “Beauty, what beauty? You mean the moody rain that never relents? The rain that sets thousands to commit suicide because of depression that such constant weather brings? So…beautiful.” The woman retorts bitterly. For some reason it sounds like she hasn’t even been to the city yet, but she won’t admit it…not yet at least.
Her violet gaze sweeps over the upper and lower form. Home, sweet home. The woman turns to lean far over the railing to peer at everything curiously. “It has a rather open, airy, yet homey feel to it. I think I can get use to living here.” A smile stretches across her lips that carry a glimmer of hope.
At the directions, Jia leans up to turn sharply on her heel and point directly north. “South?” She asks. It would seem the woman is still a bit disoriented, hopefully in a day or so, she will be back to her normal senses.

"No, that's north." said a woman, entering the room.
The corporal, seemingly 30-ish, was wearing the standard Grey Wolf field throusers and a sweaty black t-shirt, a white towel around her neck.
She noticed Noriyuki, and saluted.
Christelle LEROY (that's what the name tag says) was short, probably 1m50-ish, but she had well-defined muscles, and a very athletic figure. The dark red of her hairs married well with her tanned skin and green eyes.
She sat at the bar, and poured herself a big glass of naranji juice, and guzzled it down. She streched her body, and poured another one. She grabbed a car magazine, and began to read it.

"Good Morning Corperal LeRoy" Sawabe said as he returned the salute. "I've heard the new Avantis are in. They're pushing 200 kmph with their latest line of hovercars. If you ask me, they've gotten jealous of Savanah Masters." The mechwarrior flipped a page in the catalog he was reading. Again, it was another 'mech he'd like to pilot but really couldn't afford. Maybe through salvage.
OOC Note: Savanah Masters are an insanely fast light hovertank

Christelle nodded. "I'd love to drive one of theses beauties." Then she added, smiling : "Maybe if I had a better wage."

As Sawabe spoke, the thumping of rapid footfalls that could be heard throughout the building slowed down and quieted. Whoever was approaching the rec room decided to do so at a more leisurely pace.
A few tendrils of malodorous smoke sneaked through the door. The unit's techie, a tall, surly-looking man, wasn't far behind. His gaze slid over Jia, briefly paused at Christelle and rested on Sawabe. "Gyro's good as it's gonna get now," he muttered in a low, raspy voice. "Sah." He shuffled his feet, turned and headed towards the gym, not meeting anyone's eyes in a practiced manner.

Jia nods her head quietly in thanks to Christelle correction to her direction. She bites down on her lower lip, while a hand draws up to rub her head. The woman leans back onto the railings and one hand grips the bar for support.
Taking in a deep breath, Jia tenses slightly at all the new arrivals and faces she does not know. Oddly, after studying them a few with her calculating eyes and moments have passed, she lets out a relived sigh, relaxing. The conversation is harmless enough, though she still does not know them. She only knows them at the ‘crew’, names would be nice.
Her gaze turns to land on Noriyuki, patiently waiting for him to give introductions properly, else she may just have to do so herself. Her finger taps the bar lightly, while her foot taps the ground in the same rhythm.

"This is Corperal LeRoy and that was Technician Deshiriyev." Noriyuki stated. It had taken him a few moments to recall the Federated Sunner's name because Deshiriyev had only recently been assigned to work on the Old Davion.

Jia leans way back on the railing to look down at Deshiriyev to smile, before leaning up to smile over at Corporal LeRoy. She clasps both her hands behind her back to hold onto the railing, while she bends forward slightly. The smile growing bigger and friendly, “Nice to meet you both. I look forward to working with you all!”

“Li.” Jia smiles towards Christelle in response, a kind and broad smile. She tips her head forward slightly, her black locks cascading over her shoulder. Then she bends at the waist to politely bow to Christelle in return, letting go of the bar behind her. “Jia Li. But please feel free to just call me ‘Jia’.”

A young man with "Johnson" on his nametag and a private's insignia on his uniform trotted up the stairs, looking around the room until his eyes settled on the Major. The blond youth nervously approached the unit's CO and gave a sharp salute. Noriyuki recognized the lad as one of the greenies in the infantry that had drawn "runner duty" for the week. From under his arm, he pulled out a noteputer and held it out for Noriyuki to peruse.
"Sir, here are the departmental reports you requested."
The young man stood at attention, waiting either to be dismissed to his other duties or to relay any other messages as was needed...though he couldn't help but sneak glances over at Jia as she leaned over in his general direction.
The reports weren't anything unusual. Most of the same things. The techs reported that they were on schedule with regular maintenance and what supplies they would need in the immediate future. The firing range a few clicks from the base proper had been refitted after the exercises from the day before with B Company's B Lance. The infantry training unit was requesting permission to aquire permits for wilderness survival exercises in the mountains to the north. Once again, Captain Hallenbeck was requesting a proper flight simulator again...or at least reminding Noriyuki about it, since fuel tended to be expensive. The agent at the hiring hall in Solaris City reported that there were a few leads on contracts but that more research would be required before a full report could be provided for the Major's perusal.
