Alright, I'd like to get a Mechwarrior 2nd edition game started over the board. If there's anyone interested, then post here. I'll start a new thread for the game once (if) it gets started. Feel free to ask questions. I'll post the rules once I work them up. Most likely it'll be a mercenary game, unless people can come to a concensus about a faction they'd like to play as.

MechWarrior, woot.
OK, what is 2nd Ed? And how much work will it be before I can be in a Timberwolf? ;-)

2nd ed = 2nd edition. Hey Zea, I've had people asking where they can pick up pdfs to help them in character gen. Mind posting a few links for pdfs or proggies to help with that? Also, talk amongst yourselves to decide what kind of party you want to have. I'm requiring at least 4 players. Once we have at least that, we can go from there.
I figure it will probably be a mercenary campaign, since that's easier for people who don't know the 'verse. You can learn as you go pretty well with that. And I managed to dig out my ol' Mercenaries Field Manual, which makes me VERY happy.

Oh, and if people have pdfs for said books, I might be able to post them on the website I made. No promises, but we'll see. I'll post the link to that if we do get any relavent files.

Well, if we're going 2E, the Timberwolf is pretty much a pipe dream for what we're doing it would be possible in 3E (CBT:RPG), but VERY expensive and still subject towards the GM's decision

I did happen to find a copy of MW 3rd ed among my books. I had forgotten I had a copy. So I'll be looking over it to decide if we'll be using 2nd or 3rd edition rules. Once we do that, I'll try to put something togeather about character gen if I don't go through it with you guys on Retro.

Okay...we're going to use MW 3rd edition. After looking it over and talking with Zea, it's more geared to actual RP than 2nd is. So...yeah. 3rd edition MW it is. I'll try working on info for char design.

I knew 2nd Ed meant Second Edition, I was meaning, what -is- Second Edition, as in rules and so forth. Or Third Edition, as is now relevant.

The version of the Mechwarrior ruleset, yah. 3rd Edition also goes by the name Classic Battletech Role Playing Game and is the same except for some slight changes like eratta and stuff. (MW 3rd Edition was one of the last games FASA made)

I've made Zea my rules-master, since he has all the errata and is most likely knows the system better. He'll be helping me out and I'll be bouncing questions off of him when I've missed stuff. But that doesn't mean he's getting a leg up, though. He knows all too well that I don't play favorites when it comes to this kind of stuff.

Um, I'm getting the feeling I should bow out now, as I know -nothing- about this. I only played the computer games, and once when I was a tiny tacker was told by my uncle about how he'd play tabletop Battletech.. using hextiles was so exotic to my youthful mind!
